The Western Gneiss Complex runs along the west coast of Norway. It is dominated by Proterozoic felsic gneisses and eclogite bodies. The eclogites formed during the subduction of the margin of Baltica under Laurentia during the Caledonian Orogeny ca. 450 Ma.
